2. CB A.J. Green

Green wasn’t a Browns draft pick, but the team effectively viewed him as one. Shortly after Round 7 ended, Green was made the highest-paid undrafted free agent in NFL history (at least until Marvin Wilson topped him a year later). He ended up getting cut in training camp, went unclaimed on waivers, and spent the season on Cleveland’s practice squad. He was active for three games, playing one defensive snap and 29 on special teams.

Still, the team obviously thinks highly of him, and the cornerback room isn’t exactly deep at the moment. The top three on the depth chart at outside corner have concerning and lengthy injury histories, which could end up forcing Green into the lineup. That is far from the ideal situation, but the Browns need to find better depth in the secondary than what they had last season. Perhaps their faith in Green will be rewarded and he will provide to be a solid backup who is hopefully not needed on defense.

Special teams will also be a great place for him to earn a roster spot, especially with the departure of ace Tavierre Thomas. There is a place open for Green; it’s up to him to take it.
