3 Cleveland Browns that could be trade bait in 2021

2. D’Ernest Johnson, Running Back

A former star from the short-lived Alliance of American Football, D’Ernest Johnson got his chance at making an NFL roster in 2019 with the Browns. He didn’t get to see the field much at all as a rookie logging just four carries for 21 yards and six receptions for 71 yards. He did also get in on the action as a return man, gaining 129 yards on five kickoff returns and nine yards on two punt returns.

That was enough to convince Cleveland to give him a shot in 2020 as the No. 3 running back. His main contribution that year was again on special teams as he had 351 yards on 14 kick returns. But he did still do more as a running back than the prior campaign.

Johnson finished with 166 yards on 33 rushes which was good for an average of five yards per attempt. His best performance came in Week 5 when Nick Chubb was hurt and he put up nearly 100 yards as he helped milk the clock to stop the Cowboys comeback attempt.

Heading into his third season, Johnson has his work cut out for him in order to make the team. He’s battling for the No. 3 spot with rookie Demetric Felton who has a great chance
