Cleveland Browns: 4 scapegoats if things go south in 2021

2. Cornerback health
There’s no denying the Cleveland Browns needed to get better at cornerback. Greedy Williams missed the entire 2020 season and Denzel Ward has also had his share of issues with staying on the field. They did have Kevin Johnson last year but he also dealt with injuries and recently retired due to health concerns.
With the issues they had at corner, Andrew Berry went out and made a couple of much-needed moves. First was the signing of Troy Hill, who has become one of the better slot corners in the NFL. The veteran will step in and provide some help in this important area but they knew they still needed more.
For that reason, the Browns selected Greg Newsome with their first pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. The Northwestern product is a talented prospect who should develop into a starter in the NFL. The problem is, he has also had an extensive history of injuries missing roughly 40 percent of his games in the NCAA.
With him, Ward, and Williams all on the same roster, the Browns have plenty of talent. But with all three struggling to play a full season, there’s no denying that the team will be holding their breathe every week hoping that none of them get banged up.
As it stands now, the secondary is very talented but the injuries could cause problems and become a possible scapegoat if there are struggles throughout the year.
