3. Trade Chris Hubbard

Given the number of quality bodies in the OL room, it could make sense to at least explore a trade of Chris Hubbard, who was the most valuable backup OL in the league last season. He was originally signed in 2018, and had a good first year with the Browns before struggling in 2019. He had to spell Wills, Teller, and Conklin at times before suffering a knee injury.

Now 30 years old and entering the final year of his deal (which will pay him just under $5 million this season), Hubbard probably won’t be back in Cleveland in 2022. Chances are he’ll be called upon in 2021, but what if another team views him as a starting-caliber player and is willing to part with capital?

It’s worth thinking about and listening to offers if they are made. Trading Hubbard could land the Browns a draft pick, about $2 million in cap space, and the chance to keep someone like Michael Dunn around long-term, which is something that should be done given his impressive performance against one of the NFL’s very best defensive lines in the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Hubbard may be great depth, but the Browns would have good depth without him.
