No. 3 – Baker Mayfield

Two things I know about Baker Mayfield. One, he is a good athlete, but certainly not elite. No way would he be able to compete in any type of Olympic event that included running. He is just fast enough to get away from a fat defensive lineman, and just slow enough to get crunched by a linebacker.

The second thing I know, the dude has an absolute cannon. He will fit a ball in a tight window and put a little extra zip on it to make sure it clears defenders.

And through my early days of watching the Tokyo games, I’ve found the perfect game for him. Handball. Not only is he athletic enough to move around the court, but his arm would also allow him to zip the ball past the opposing goalie and be extremely accurate with passes.

Not only that, the game is fairly physical, and I feel like Mayfield would flourish in a game like that and really give a competitive edge to the Americans. He seems to always be involved in the extra circulars after the play.

There is no doubt Mayfield stands to make more money as an NFL quarterback, but if he ever needed a strong backup plan, handball may be where it’s at for him.
