2. Nick Chubb, Running Back

Nick Chubb wouldn’t have made this list on his rookie deal for the fact that we were excluding players on their first contract. But then Chubb signed a new deal over the weekend.

He ended up with a three-year extension that will pay him up to $36.6 million. In 2021, he now has a cap hit of $4.78 million which is a bargain for his services.

In his first three seasons, Chubb has asserted himself as one of the best running backs in the entire NFL. He has 3,557 yards rushing with 28 touchdowns and even with him missing four games last season, he had 1,067 yards and 12 touchdowns.

What makes Chubb so special is his mix of speed and vision. He can see the hole like no other running back and despite being a 227-pound bruising back, he’s able to hit another gear — which is evident by the fact that he has a team-record 92-yard touchdown run on his resume.

Running backs usually don’t make good on their second contracts but the Browns have a different type of player in Chubb. On top of that, they have Kareem Hunt on the roster as a player who can help carry the load and keep Chubb from falling apart the way other running backs have on their second contract.
