3 takeaways from Cleveland Browns first padded practice of 2021

1. Clowney continues to impress
After not being able to sign Jadeveon Clowney in free agency during the 2020 offseason, the Browns landed him this year and the early returns have been great.
Earlier in the week, defensive line coach Chris Kiffin was gushing about the work Clowney has been putting in, saying he looked “awesome” and “healthy.”
"“All I know from Jadeveon is what I have seen in our mandatory minicamp and our first week, and he looks awesome,” Kiffin said. “He looks healthy. He is in good spirits. He is attentive in meetings. Everything we have asked of him so far, he has done. I think he is very motivated and very excited. He has already said it, he feels really comfortable here around the locker room, the coaches and all of that. He is in a great spot, and we are excited to have him.” — Kiffin’s quote on Clowney via Andrew Gribble of ClevelandBrowns.com"
On Tuesday, Clowney continued to impress as Andrew Gribble from the team’s official website said he was disruptive all day.
In fact, the entire defense was on top of their game, making life miserable for Baker Mayfield and the offense. A huge part of that was due to the way Clowney and the defensive line pushed the pocket and forced the ball out quickly.
Cleveland’s defense was a mess last season but early indications suggest they should improve dramatically in 2021 — and the first padded practice gives us even more reason to believe that will be the case.
