Cleveland Browns expectation No. 1: Another big dose of rookies

The last thing you can surely expect at Sunday’s game, a heavy dose of the Cleveland Brown’s rookie class. That includes Greg Newsome, Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, Tommy Togiai, James Hudson, Demetric Felton, and Richard LeCounte.

Newsome, JOK, Togiai, Felton, and LeCounte all had shining moments in the first preseason game, and Hudson struggled to adjust to the speed of the game.  Anthony Schwartz and Tony Fields will likely not see any action as they continue to be sidelined with injuries.

There is a fine line between playing these guys too much and risking injury, and not playing them enough to give them the game experience. I was surprised at the number of snaps these guys got in game one (JOK specifically), but these live-action reps are more valuable than anything they can get at practice.

Newsome and JOK will likely see a ton of first-half snaps and then will sit the rest of the game. Guys like Togiai, Felton, and Hudson will likely play 75 percent of the game and it will be a real test to see if they are ready to make this roster.

This will also be a huge week for Marvin Wilson, the undrafted defensive tackle that has a chance of making the final roster. You could tell it was a big adjustment in week one for him, but I’ll be excited to see how he adjusts in week two of the preseason. He has the talent to make this roster.
