4 most talented Cleveland Browns that won’t make the roster
By Greg Newland
No. 1 – Davion Davis, Wide Receiver
Perhaps the biggest standout of this Cleveland Browns preseason has been wide receiver, Davion Davis. The third-year pro from Sam Houston State spent his first two years on and off the Minnesota Vikings practice squad and was likely brought in because Kevin Stefanski knew what this guy could do.
In the first preseason game, Davis had four receptions for 56 yards and a great touchdown catch right before halftime. For game two, Davis was the leading receiver again with three catches for 45 yards. One of those catches being an extremely difficult ball that was well behind him.
Once again, there is just too much talent in the room for Davis to have a real shot. Jarvis Landry, Odell Beckham, Donovan Peoples-Jones, and Rashard Higgins appear to be safe, and there are likely only two other open slots.
The rookie, Anthony Schwartz, will likely get a fair shot and it looks like JoJo Natson has a decent opportunity to make the roster as the designated kick returner.
I hope I’m wrong on this one, I would love to see Davis make this roster and be a part of the future. Remember, the Browns receiving room will likely look a lot different in 2022.
Unfortunately, the practice squad likely won’t work for Davis either. Someone would swoop him up quickly.
