Cleveland Browns breakout candidate No. 1: Baker Mayfield

This is the season that Baker Mayfield could solidify himself as a Cleveland sports legend. He has one of the most talented rosters around him and a real shot at winning the first Super Bowl in Cleveland Browns’ history.

He had an incredible second half of the 2020-2021 season. However, it is yet to be seen if Mayfield will be able to play at this elite level for an entire season.

Mayfield displayed an incredible bounce-back year last season. He threw for more touchdowns, fewer interceptions, and had a higher completion percentage last season than the year prior.

If he is able to continue these performances or even improve on them, Mayfield could prove himself as a top-10 quarterback, if not better.

Additionally, Mayfield is another player that will be playing for an extension this season. It has been reported that he will be looking for north of $40 million. For this to happen, he will have to have an amazing season and breakthrough to a level that he still has not shown for an entire season.

Mayfield has enough help around him and an adequate defense this season to make a deep playoff run. It will be on him to take the Browns to the promised land this season and possibly for years to come.

However, this will be the year that he is able to show season-long consistency and prove himself as an elite quarterback.
