No. 2 – Defensive End

Don’t shut down on me at the first glance. The Cleveland Browns have the best duo at defensive end in the NFL, or at least the top three. However, my concern is the depth after that. Last Sunday vs. the Giants there was little to no pressure unless Joe Woods dialed up a blitz, and even that wasn’t that effective.

Porter Gustin and Curtis Weaver have each shown signs of being serviceable backups in the league, but they also have been extremely inconsistent.

What could be the missing piece? Takk McKinley, but I don’t think we can act like he is a sure thing. He has struggled with injuries, and he hasn’t been in camp for over 10 days. Who knows what kind of shape this guy will be in, or if he will even make the roster?

General manager, Andrew Berry, should be on the hunt for a guy with a high motor that can get after the quarterback. Don’t worry about if he can stop the run but get a guy who will pin his ears back and make things happen.

Gustin or Weaver can be the secondary guys on third and short, but this team must have another guy that can consistently get a pass rush. You saw several lapses again in the secondary on Sunday, primarily because the quarterbacks had too much time to make decisions.
