Cleveland Browns Storyline No. 5: Is Demetric Felton ready to contribute now?

Demetric Felton has been the epitome of the saying, ‘the more you can do’ so far in training camp. Felton has spent the majority of camp working with the wide receivers but has been moonlighting at running back as well. Oh yeah, and he can return kicks.

Because he tested poorly during the draft process, Felton fell in the Browns lap in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL draft. While some teams saw the fact that Felton played multiple positions as a negative, in this ever-evolving offensive NFL landscape, the Browns saw it as a net positive.

While Felton might be a jack of all trades and a master of none currently, he might have impressed enough to fill a couple of backup roles with his skill set. Felton will get plenty of opportunities to solidify his case for 3rd or 4th string running back as well as 6th string wide receiver this Sunday. On top of those duties, look for the rookie to return punts and perhaps even kickoffs.

If Felton is able to ease the minds of the coaching staff, it is completely within the realm of possibility that he could free up two additional roster spots single-handedly. If that is not worth watching Sunday night, I don’t know what is.
