Browns Mock Draft Round 4 pick: Tyreke Smith, EDGE, Ohio State

When we took Isaiah Thomas with the Browns third-round pick, it was mentioned that two of the top three defensive ends are working on one-year deals. As for the fourth option, they signed Joe Jackson to the active roster just days after initially releasing him.

They do have Porter Gustin and Curtis Weaver on the practice squad but again, there’s simply not a lot of depth long-term. That’s why just two picks later, we’re back to the defensive end well  — and for the second pick in a row, we head to Columbus for our newest member of the Browns.

That’s where we find Tyreke Smith who is a solid 6-foot-3 and 260-pounds. So far, Smith has yet to truly break out but he’s shown flashes of the player he can become. More will be on his plate in 2021 and that could lead to him getting a shot at making an NFL roster.

Browns Mock Draft Round 5 pick: Allie Green IV, CB, Missouri

Talent-wise, the Browns are pretty good at cornerback. They have Denzel Ward, Greg Newsome II, Greedy Williams, and Troy Hill. Durability-wise, they have some serious concerns.

Williams is trying to get back on the field after missing his entire second season and both Newsome and Ward have had some nagging injuries in their respective careers. On top of that, Williams and Ward will each enter 2022 in the final year of their respective deals. Ward will surely re-sign but Williams isn’t a guarantee.

That means Cleveland should start churning the bottom of that depth chart which leads to the selection of Allie Green IV. Originally part of the program at Tulsa, Green transferred to Missouri this season. An imposing defensive back at 6-foot-3 and 206-pounds, Green needs to prove himself in the SEC before making the leap. If he does, he offers a lot of size that could truly help in the defensive backfield.
