Cleveland Browns Bold Prediction No. 2: Myles Garrett, Jadeveon Clowney both get 15 sacks

The Cleveland Browns defensive line may not be the deepest or the best overall unit in the NFL in 2021, but they do have two of the best edge rushers in the league. Jadeveon Clowney signed a one-year deal with the team this offseason to join fellow athletic freak Myles Garrett on a defensive line that should rack up plenty of sacks and tackles for loss.

Through his first four seasons in the league, Garrett has tallied 42.5 sacks, including 12 in 2020. When he doesn’t get to the quarterback, he causes enough pressure that it causes havoc for the opposing offense. Add in the skill-set of Clowney, whose real dominant skill is run defense, and you have a defensive line tailor-made for anything the offense may throw at you.

There’s always a huge benefit for the player who lines up at defensive end opposite of Myles Garrett. With him garnering so much attention, and often double teams, that creates one-on-one matchups between the rest of the linemen and their blockers. While Clowney has never recorded 10 sacks in a season, this season could finally be the year where, if healthy, he reaches the double-digit mark.

Once teams realize they can’t solely focus on Garrett and have to leave him in single blocking situations at times because of success elsewhere on the Browns defensive line, that will mean only bigger sack numbers for him. Garrett and Clowney are going to be a force to be reckoned with in 2021, and be only the second teammates to record 15 sacks in a season in NFL history.
