Top 3 Cleveland Browns offensive storylines against the Kansas City Chiefs
By John Suchan
1. Which Cleveland Browns wide receiver will have a big game?
One of the Browns receivers is going to have a great game. The storylines this Browns training camp have focused on a couple of players. Everyone is holding their breath in anticipation to see how Odell Beckham, Jr. reacts to game action for the first time since last October and his major knee injury. Beckham was held out of the preseason games for precaution but he’s likely going to start on Sunday.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see Mayfield throw it deep a time or two to Beckham. Can they connect early? That would be a big story if they do.
The other talk of camp has been second-year player Donovan Peoples-Jones who has had a few highlight moments in practices. They are just practices, and though I don’t disagree with some of you that Peoples-Jones is improving a could be in line for a breakout season, he’s still a backup wide receiver.
Will he have a catch or two in this game that has us questioning if he should be on the field more? Sure, but that doesn’t happen overnight especially if you have veterans like Beckham, Jarvis Landry, and Rashard “Hollywood” Higgins in front of you.
Speaking of Higgins, he had a big game a year ago grabbing five catches for 88 yards. We all remember the catch he had where he looked like he was scoring a touchdown only to be targeted in the helmet by a Chief defender and subsequently fumbled the ball through the end zone for a defensive touchback.
Look for Higgins to play inspired Sunday and I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s the top receiver on the day again. I expect some major fireworks by the Browns very talented offensive members. Take it all in Browns fans.
This is the first of a memorable ride through a season that won’t be forgotten anytime soon.
