No. 2 – Baker Mayfield, Quarterback

Almost every team has their quarterback on the list of make-or-break players for the year. Well, the Cleveland Browns are no different as Baker Mayfield comes in at number two.

Over the last three seasons, we have seen the good, the bad, and the ugly. But the good news is, the second half of last year and the two playoff performances were great by Mayfield.

There’s no reason to think his consistency will change, but Mayfield needs to take the next big leap. This will be year four in the league, and year two under the offensive wizard, Stefanski. Look for this to be the year that the game slows down, and everything becomes easier for Mayfield.

Fans must remember; Mayfield is not going to be a guy who throws for 5,000 yards. Number one, he doesn’t have the skillset to just line up in the shotgun and throw every single play. Not many guys in the NFL do.

Number two, Stefasnki’s system won’t allow it, no matter how good of a season he has. Mayfield will continue to hand the ball to Nick Chubb and make a few huge throws throughout the game when the team needs him most.

I’m all in on Mayfield, I know the pain of having a horrible quarterback, but I’m also not ready to call him a top-eight quarterback in the NFL. That could change after this season, and Andrew Berry could regret not giving him the big contract a year early.
