No. 3 – How healthy are the Cleveland Browns?

As with any team, health is always a major concern, but even a bigger one for the Cleveland Browns on defense.

With the new 4-2-5 scheme that defensive coordinator, Joe Woods, wants to utilize, Grant Delpit will be an extremely important player to have on the field. Delpit will be the fifth secondary member who will move all around the field and make the opposing team’s quarterbacks’ life a nightmare.

We still aren’t sure of his status. He has returned to practice but in two years with the team, he still hasn’t played an NFL snap. The real test, if he is ready, will he be any good?

This will be the first real-game action for cornerback, Greedy Williams, as well in two seasons. Greg Newsome, the rookie, will get the start, but you can expect to see a lot of Williams if he’s healthy.

There also seem to be a ton of nagging injuries with guys like Ronnie Harrison, Myles Garrett, and Anthony Walker. These three guys will be leaders on this defense, and it will be tough to win games without them on the field.

We did get our first glimpse at Walker and Harrison in the third preseason game but have yet to see Garrett have any live-action. Don’t expect that to slow his production down too much, but let’s hope he has fully recovered from the soft tissue injury during camp.
