Cleveland Browns: Top 3 defensive storylines vs. Kansas City Chiefs
By Greg Newland

No. 1 – Making Mahomes uncomfortable
The biggest thing to watch in week one, can the Browns defensive line get pressure on Mahomes with only bringing four. That would mean that Myles Garrett, Jadaveon Clowney, and Takk McKinley are getting around the Chiefs’ offensive tackles with no issues, and they aren’t having to blitz to make him uncomfortable.
What does that do for the Browns defense? Number one, there isn’t a single quarterback in the league that performs better under pressure than with a clean pocket. Mahomes is a great athlete and can make plays on the run, but there is no doubt he would prefer to be standing still.
The second thing pressure from just the front four will do, give you an extra man in coverage. Maybe that guy will be used to double Hill over the top because of his speed. Or allow you to bracket Kelce in the middle of the field. The Browns could even choose to spy on Mahomes who can run.
Bottom line, the Browns defensive line must find a way to generate pressure without a ton of blitzing. As much as we all want to see a blitz every play, the Chiefs are too talented, and you will eventually get burnt doing that.
