Cleveland Browns player feeling pressure, No. 1: Cornerback, Greedy Williams
Lastly is the third-year cornerback from LSU, Greedy Williams. If you want to get a Browns fan started on a rant, just bring up the name Greedy Williams.
A player that has a load of talent and potential, but simply can’t use it. In his time with the Browns Williams has seen the field only 12 times in two seasons. Unfortunately, Williams is just one of those players that seem to be hit with an injury bug. But the NFL is a league where availability is the best ability, you can only be unavailable for so long before you get replaced.
If Cleveland’s new pickups such as Troy Hill, and first-round pick Greg Newsome II show they can stay healthy and be serviceable, there is no reason they don’t completely take over for Williams. He is currently listed as the cornerback four on the unofficial depth chart for the kickoff against the Chiefs.
Hopefully, the limited playing time will help with the injury problems, but that also allows for less opportunity to prove himself as a playmaker. If Greedy Williams wants to be on this team, he needs to prove he can stay healthy, and show he has the talent to be one of the better nickel corners in the game.
The Cleveland Browns roster is one of the most complete and impressive in the league, there is not much room for guys with question marks. If these guys want to be a part of something special, they need to prove they are special.
