Cleveland Browns Round 3 Pick: Amari Gainer, LB, Florida State

We go right back to Florida State for the third pick in this draft as we grab Amari Gainer from Florida State. Defensive tackle is clearly a bigger need than linebacker but this class isn’t really deep so they go with the best player on the board which is Gainer.

One reason he makes sense in this defense is his versatility. Joe Woods likes to be able to move his guys around like chess pieces and while Gainer isn’t on the same level as Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, he has been all over the field like their second-round pick from Notre Dame has.

He even has experience rushing the passer, evidenced by his 3.5 sacks as a freshman. Depth issues and injuries have been an issue at linebacker and this young man could be a huge help.

Cleveland Browns Round 4 Pick: Obinna Eze, OT, TCU

I’m not ready to give up on James Hudson, who was pretty solid at Cincinnatti but struggled in the preseason. However, I’m also not just standing pat either. Hudson needs to earn the job as the swing tackle and he gets some real competition here in Obinna Eze from TCU.

Of course, the injuries the Browns have had is another reason to grab Eze. They have had a rough time with players being sidelined, even seeing Jedrick Wills going down in Week 1. That’s why it’s still a solid pick, even if Hudson develops and becomes a better player.
