Cleveland Browns Bold Prediction No. 4: Chase McLaughlin will hit a field goal from over 50 yards

The Browns fanbase has been hesitant to embrace a kicker since Phil Dawson left the city of Cleveland after the 2012 season. Since Dawson’s departure, the team has employed an endless revolving door of kickers. It doesn’t exactly help inspire the fanbase’s confidence that the current kicker, Chase McLaughlin, won the kicking job because of an injury.

But do you know what would win the fanbase over? I am glad you asked, let me lay out the scenario for you. Late in the first half, the Browns are going to force a punt that puts them deep in their own territory with just under a minute to play and two timeouts. After a running play that gets a good chunk, the Browns go into their hurry-up offense.

Baker will complete another chunk play to the middle of the field just short of the 50-yard line, and the Browns will call their first timeout with just under 15 seconds on the clock. After missing on a shot play, Baker will connect on another pass to the middle of the field just in time to call timeout with three seconds on the clock.

Chase McLaughlin will enter the field of play to line up for a 53-yard field goal. With an unfathomable amount of nervous energy filling the stadium, McLaughlin will get into position and…split the uprights. The fans will rejoice and embrace their kicker, for at least the next seven days.
