1. Cleveland Browns Baker Mayfield is precision personified

Baker Mayfield is having himself quite a time early in the season. He’s been laser-sharp in his passing, completing 40-of-49 passes for 534 yards.

According to our own Mitch Zoloty, that gives him an impressive 10.9 yards per attempt and 13.35 per catch.

The one issue we can take with his early stats are the two picks but even those aren’t all bad. The first one was the one that ended the comeback against the Chiefs. Mayfield was trying to throw the ball away but was tripped up while doing so and it floated to safety Juan Thornhill. In hindsight, he should have taken the sack, but we can see what he was trying to do.

As for his second, that came in the win over Houston and it wasn’t on him. Mayfield was throwing it for Anthony Schwartz who stopped on his route which left the ball in the air for Justin Reid. A miscommunication cost him on that one.

Of course, Mayfield wouldn’t make such excuses. He’s the kind of player who will somehow say he needs to be better but it’s hard to get much better than 81.6 percent on passing attempts.

Next. Browns score unimpressive win over Houston. dark

Cleveland now prepares for the Chicago Bears in Week 2 and if Baker keeps playing the way he has so far, they could be looking at a 2-1 start.
