Cleveland Browns: 5 Bold Predictions vs Bears in Week 3
Cleveland Browns Bold Prediction No. 4: Demetric Felton will have over 125 all-purpose yards
Demetric Felton is proving to be the weapon that we did not even know we needed. Coming out of last season the wish list for the Cleveland offense was short. They needed a speedy receiver to pair with everything they already had in house.
Andrew Berry went out and secured the fastest wide receiver in the draft when he selected Anthony Schwartz in the third round of the NFL draft. So, the Browns were done adding to their offensive weaponry, right? Not so fast my friends.
What if the Berry and the Browns could add a player in the sixth round that could run the ball, play receiver, and contribute in the return game? It sounds almost too good to be true. Well, ladies and gentlemen, I present to you…Demetric Felton.
Felton is truly as multifaceted as you will ever find in a late-round draft pick. The rookie played both receiver and running back while at UCLA under Chip Kelly, which has given Felton a formidable and applicable skill set at the next level. The scary part is he is just learning to be a returner.
With the recent injury to Jarvis Landry, Felton is a prime candidate to see extra reps in the slot while the veteran is on the injured reserve. The rookie filled in admirably for Landry last week, catching both of his targets and taking one to 33 yards to the house.
Felton has shown he can use his short-area quickness combined with his slipperiness and balance to make defenders miss at the NFL level. Thus, providing the Browns with another formidable offensive weapon.
Felton will continue to build upon his performance from last week by delivering when the ball is in his hands. His value will not be measured by catches or carries, but simply by how many times he touches the ball in the game. Look for Felton to see between 10 and 12 touches and end up in the neighborhood of 125-150 all-purpose yards against the Bears.
