Cleveland Browns Offense: C-

For the first two weeks of the season, the defense was giving up points, but the offense was scoring to make up for it. The last two weeks it has been the defense picking up the slack and the offense struggling.

Let’s just get it out of the way. Baker Mayfield was bad on Sunday. He was 15-of-33 for 155 yards and no touchdowns. Not only that, he missed at least three wide-open throws, all that would have closed the game out in the second half.

It’s okay, he will recover. Remember, he had a shoulder injury in week two that still could be a factor, and everyone has an off week. Let’s just be happy he played poorly, and the team won.  Mayfield is as fierce of a competitor that exists, I have no doubts that he will rebound.

Part of Mayfield’s struggles also came from the additional pressure he was feeling. Not only was he sacked three times, but he was also constantly having the pocket collapsed and that sped up his internal clock throwing off his rhythm. Jedrick Wills once again left the game with the ankle injury, and he just doesn’t look right on the field. I have said it the last two weeks, it may be time to rest the young kid until he is healthy.

The team still had 184 rushing yards and moved the ball at times, but the inaccuracy of Mayfield severely limited the Cleveland Browns offense on Sunday afternoon. Not only will Mayfield need to be much better in LA next weekend, but the offensive line will also need to do a better job of keeping the pocket clean.
