Cleveland Browns Matchup No. 2: Greedy Williams vs Mike Williams

The redemption tour continues for Greedy Williams. With Greg Newsome out for the second straight game, Williams will once again get the lion’s share of reps at corner opposite Denzel Ward. With great power comes great responsibility.

Last week, Williams showed out against a formidable Vikings receiver group. The test against the Chargers will be equally as daunting from a physicality standpoint. Los Angeles’ receivers are not quite as highly regarded as Minnesota’s, but due to the Chargers’ quarterback, this will prove to be an even stiffer test.

The matchup to watch this week will be Greedy against a newly rejuvenated and renovated Mike Williams. The fifth-year receiver has found a new life under offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi. The ex-Saints quarterback coach is utilizing Williams in ways similar to the way Michael Thomas is utilized in New Orleans. The results have been evident.

Through four games, Williams has 23 receptions for 306 yards and four touchdowns. Those numbers are even more impressive when you factor in that Williams only recorded one catch in last Monday’s drubbing of the Las Vegas Raiders. Lombardi will be looking to get Williams back on track against the Browns.

Greedy will need to come up big for the second game in a row in order for the Browns defense to slow down this potent Chargers’ passing attack. If last week is any indication, then Greedy is up for the challenge.
