Cleveland Browns Matchup No. 4: Baker Mayfield vs Baker Mayfield

There might not be a more polarizing player in the NFL currently than Baker Mayfield. The fourth-year signal-caller is coming off of an abysmal week four performance and his critics are shouting from the mountain tops. Mayfield knows that there is only one way to break out of his recent slump, and that is to produce on the field.

In the days following his ‘p*ss poor performance’, the specifics of his shoulder injury have recently been brought to light. Baker has been playing with a partially torn labrum in his left shoulder for the last two and a half games.

However, at the end of the day, Mayfield’s injured non-throwing shoulder is not an excuse for his lackluster play. If Baker is healthy enough to take the field on Sundays, then he needs to perform at the level that is expected of him by his coaches and teammates.

In a what have you done lately league, filled with prisoner of the moment fans, Baker can temporarily silence the negative outside noise by going out and having an impressive day against the Chargers. An impressive game does not necessarily mean a beefy stat line, but he does need to look sharp and in command of the offense.

Simply put, it’s Baker vs Baker this Sunday. My money is on Mayfield to leave Los Angeles victorious both on the field as well as in the minds of fans and critics alike.
