Cleveland Browns Round Round 4 Pick: Merlin Robertson, LB, Arizona State

Linebacker has been a sore spot for the past couple of seasons for the Browns. They hoped they struck gold with Mack Wilson who had a solid rookie season but then he trended in the wrong direction in 2020 and 2021. There’s also Jacob Phillips but he hasn’t been able to stay healthy.

Right now, their best players are Anthony Walker, Malcolm Smith, and Sione Takitaki. Smith will likely be gone after this season and Takitaki seems to have a role even if he’s not a star. Walker seems to be the only safe linebacker on the roster, which means there needs to be more depth.

That brings us to Merlin Robertson, who can play in various roles and is even used as a pass-rusher by the Sun Devils. He could find himself as a rotational player with the upside to start down the road.

Cleveland Browns Round Round 4 Pick: Isaac Taylor-Stuart, CB, USC

The secondary is another issue with the Browns — mainly due to their problems staying healthy. We saw this in Week 5 when Denzel Ward went down as did Greedy Williams. This was while they were already playing without Greg Newsome.

In order to build more depth and competition, Cleveland adds Isaac Taylor-Stuart out of USC. A boundary corner with great size, Taylor-Stuart would provide some much-needed help in an area where the team is constantly thin.
