Cleveland Browns Bold Prediction No. 4: David Njoku picks up where he left off

One important step was taken in the Browns Week 5 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, the Browns finally unlocked the potential of David Njoku in their offense. The fifth-year tight end managed to haul in seven receptions for a career-high 149 yards and a touchdown. The touchdown, a 71-yard catch and sprint away, showcased how truly special of an athlete Njoku is.

Njoku’s lack of involvement in the offense has been somewhat of an enigma to the fans and analysts alike. The dynamic tight end has all the physical tools to be utilized as the Browns biggest mismatch in the passing game. With fantastic straight-line speed and incredible leaping ability for a man of his size, it would seem to be a no brainer to integrate his unique skill set into Cleveland’s game plan, week in and week out.

The Browns are stacked at the tight end position, with three starting-caliber players at the position. In his early years, it was the blocking aspect of the position that kept Njoku from getting the lion’s share of opportunities. However, Njoku has transformed himself into a willing and able blocker in the run game over the course of the last two seasons.

It finally appears that ‘the Chief’ has turned a corner, and now will be looking to build upon last week’s stellar performance. Njoku will lead the Browns with six receptions in Week 6, including a high-point touchdown in the red zone.
