Cleveland Browns Stud: Donovan Peoples-Jones

There’s just something about Odell Beckham, Jr. getting hurt in a game that brings out the best in Donovan Peoples-Jones. Last season when OBJ tore his ACL, DPJ ended up hauling in a game-winning touchdown. This week when Beckham suffered a shoulder injury, Peoples-Jones tried to single-handily bring his team back into the game.

Down 20-0, DPJ scored from 11-yards out to make it a 20-7 game. Following another Arizona score, the Browns were trying for the end zone with three seconds left and Baker Mayfield aired it out for the end zone where a crowd was waiting.

That’s where Peoples-Jones out-leaped everyone and caught a 57-yard touchdown to make it 23-14 going into the intermission. That gave him 88 yards on three catches with two scores in the first half — a half with almost no one else providing a spark.

Peoples-Jones had 101 yards on four receptions with the two touchdowns and while he faded to the background when Beckham returned from the locker room, he still stood out as one of the few offensive stars on Sunday.

Cleveland Browns Dud: Baker Mayfield, Quarterback

While the first half was a mess in large part due to the play of the defense, Baker Mayfield also deserves a huge portion of the blame. In the first half, he failed to see an open Odell Beckham, Jr. on a fourth-down play and took a sack.

He was later sacked and fumbled on a play where he either should have given up or thrown it away. That set the Cardinals up in Cleveland territory and they extended the lead to 17-0. On the very next drive, he turned it over again in Cleveland territory.

This time, he sailed a pass intended for Rashard Higgins and it landed right in the hands of Robert Alford. Again, the defense held them to a field goal but at this point, it was 20-0 Arizona.
