Cleveland Browns trade target No. 2: New England Patriots

Has there ever been a list of possible trades that doesn’t include the New England Patriots as a potential landing spot? Of course, they make this list, but they make it for more reasons than just being a team that’s always seen on these types of things. Beckham and the Patriots have a bit of a history, which makes this a seeming no-brainer location for the wide receiver to end up.

Beckham has publicly praised Patriots coach Bill Belichick in the past, stating that he has tons of respect for him and talks to him before every game that he plays against the Patriots.

"“Going against Bill Belichick, this is somebody who I have much respect for. Probably talk to him before and after the game. He tells me the same thing every time, he’s like: ‘I hope you enjoy today because there’s not going to be much for you.'”— –Odell Beckham Jr. on Bill Belichick"

Beckham has also practiced with the New England Patriots during the offseason on several occasions, both while with the New York Giants and the Cleveland Browns. While it may seem like an innocent thing, practicing with your friends on another team, it’s done nothing but spark trade rumor year after year, with OBJ being mocked in trade predictions to New England.

Adding a veteran wide receiver for rookie Mac Jones may be something that the Patriots want to do. After spending a large amount of money on free agents this offseason, including several receivers and tight ends, the ability to add someone with the upside of Odell Beckham may be too much to pass up on for Belichick.
