Cleveland Browns: 3 matchups that will decide the game vs Lions
Matchup No. 3: Kevin Stefanski vs Aaron Glenn
If this Week 11 matchup were to be played on paper, the Browns offense would simply decimate the Lions defense. But unfortunately for the Browns, the game will actually be played on a field. To this point in the season, the Cleveland offense has been lesser than the sum of its parts.
The Lions defense, although scrappy, is giving up an average of 379.8 yards per game and 28.9 points per contest. Aaron Glenn, the defensive coordinator is doing all that he can, but the Lions simply do not have the personnel in place to compete at this juncture.
The opposite is true of Kevin Stefanski and the Browns. They have the personnel in place but have had immense difficulty in getting out of their own way this season. Neither the coaching nor the execution by the players has been up to the Browns’ standards in 2021.
If the Browns are going to turn it around this season, it has to start against the Lions on Sunday. After week 11, the stakes get raised each and every week until the end of the regular season. Stefanski must figure out a way to get this offense firing and start putting points on the board consistently.
If the Browns can put up a balanced efficient offensive performance against Glenn’s defense it could be the springboard necessary to catapult the Browns into the backstretch of the season. If the Browns falter against the Lions, there won’t be much optimism heading into their Sunday night showdown in Baltimore.
