Cleveland Browns Offensive Grade: C

It was average. It wasn’t stellar, but it wasn’t horrible either. Some may argue this take, but a win counts any way you slice it the same if you win 3-0 or 51-0. The concerns for the Browns offense being limited in scoring points in bunches can be taken out of context — and that’s how it feels when one listens to some of the negative spins by those that try to puncture holes in a team that is better than has been for years.

Yes, the offense only scored 13 points in the win against Detroit. This is why a football team has a unit called the defense and another squad referred to as special teams.

The Cleveland offense also has a running game that is pretty good, including Nick Chubb, who returned to compete in the game after dealing with Covid. He provided that 4th quarter spark at the end of the game, getting a couple of first downs to close the door on any hope for the Lions to try and come back. The run game was getting good blocking from its lineman and tight ends, all members of the offense too.

The lack of attention paid to these players is probably alright by them because these are the guys that compete in the trenches while the rest of the world wants to be angry about a quarterback simply walking off the field after a bad day at the office.

There were many mistakes made by the offensive unit, including multiple holding penalties at key moments of the game, that would have likely made the win Sunday a bit more bearable for those that are upset today because they don’t like wins, no matter how ugly they may look.
