Cleveland Browns star rookie: Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah Grade: A+

Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, the rookie linebacker from Notre Dame has been a bright spot for this team’s defense and is showing that he can be what the Browns have needed at the linebacker position.

Owusu-Koramoah is your type of linebacker who flies from sideline to sideline and seems to always be around where the play is being made.

In the 2020 NFL Draft, the Browns traded up to pick 52 in the second round to take the 21-year old explosive backer.

JOK was a projected first-round pick throughout the college football season but then some sort of heart issue came up and turned certain teams off of him.

Lucky for the Browns, the organization didn’t see any issues and got an absolute steal. So far through the season, Owusu-Koramoah is the NFL’s highest-rated rookie defender as well as the third highest-rated linebacker in all of football according to PFF.  There’s no doubt that he is in the conversation for Defensive Rookie of the Year.

There was a minor setback for Owusu-Koramoah in Week 6 when the Browns lost to the Arizona Cardinals. In the fourth quarter, he suffered an ankle sprain and was then placed on the injured reserve.

Then in Week 11 in the Browns’ win against the Detroit Lions, Owusu-Koramoah re-injured his ankle but after undergoing an MRI, it was determined that he would be day-to-day with that ankle injury.

Pairing rookie stars Greg Newsome ll and Owusu-Koramoah with veteran stars such as Myles Garrett and Denzel Ward, the future is very bright for this team’s defense.
