Player No. 2 – Ronnie Harrison

Last season I was ready to call Ronnie Harrison the greatest trade in 20 years for the Cleveland Browns. Andrew Berry was able to scoop him up right before the season and gave up a fifth-round pick for the former third-rounder.

He was at times the best player on the defense last year, but now that the team has added so much more talent on that side of the ball, his antics are getting old each week.

He plays with a ton of emotion which is great, but that has led to far too many bonehead plays. And these aren’t even close, every penalty on him this season I remember thinking, what a bonehead play.

Additionally, Harrison will be coming off his rookie contract, and will likely have a ton of interest in free agency this year. I don’t think he is a top-five safety in the league, but he has yet to hit his ceiling and if he can control his emotions, he can make any defense in the league better.

I know the Browns will be giving up a good player by letting him walk, but between the penalties and the cost to keep him, I think the money can be spent elsewhere. Remember, Grant Delpit will have a full year under his belt and can step into Harrison’s role. The Browns can easily draft or sign another safety to be on the field in dime situations.
