Cleveland Browns Third-Place Schedule – Chargers, Texans, and Washington
Had the Cleveland Browns lost on Sunday, they would have faced the Denver Broncos, Jacksonville Jaguars, and New York Giants based on a last-place schedule. Instead, they will now host the Los Angeles Chargers and travel to play the Houston Texans and Washington Football team.
The Chargers will be a great rematch, and it was one of the few games in 2021 where the offense looked fantastic. Fantastic, that is, until they needed on first down to seal the game and they just couldn’t get it done. Justin Herbert may be the second or third best pure passer in the NFL and will be no easy matchup for the Browns in 2022.
Cleveland beat Houston in Week 2 of the 2021 season and shouldn’t have any issues next year either. The Texans will likely still have a major hole at quarterback with DeShaun Watson likely to be traded and a very weak class in the 2022 draft. A should-win game, but certainly not a cakewalk.
Washington is an interesting one. They too will likely be in the market for a quarterback, and they have a lot of other strong pieces. With one of the best defensive fronts in football, they could easily turn things around in 2022 and a trip to Washington D.C. will not be an easy win.
The Browns must go 2-1 with third-place opponents, but 3-0 is a possibility.
