Cleveland Browns FA to avoid No. 1 – Michael Gallup

One of the biggest changes you will see next year for the Cleveland Browns is their wide receivers. I expect Jarvis Landry and Rashard Higgins to be gone, and I would expect the first-round pick and a lot of cap to be spent on a top-tier free agent.

Just three weeks ago I had Michael Gallup as the top option for the Browns to bring in. With two elite wide receivers in Dallas, he was underutilized and underappreciated. But after suffering an ACL tear at the end of the season, I don’t like him as an option now.

For one, it will be the same thing you had with Odell Beckham this year. He won’t be ready for the start of the season, so you’ll just be waiting each week to see if he can return. On top of that, he would get little to no work with Baker Mayfield in the offseason.

The other issue is Gallup has injury concerns. He now has had two different injuries, and it feels like he is constantly fighting through injuries to play on Sunday.

I still wouldn’t be against Gallup for the right price, but given the way the wide receiver market typically goes, I don’t see that happening.

Remember, there are still guys like Allen Robinson, Emmanuel Sanders, and JuJu Smith-Schuster who are free agents as well — meaning they can make a splash without taking a risk.
