Cleveland Browns Outside Free Agent No. 2 – Morgan Moses, Offensive Tackle

With so many injuries last year, I expect Berry to beef up the offensive line. The interior is in good shape, but the tackle position could use some beefing up.

Jedrick Wills struggled in 2021. No other way to explain it, but he was fighting through an ankle injury most of the year. Let’s hope he is back at full strength. Jack Conklin faced a serious injury that some believe could be career-threatening.

After that Chris Hubbard (who is also a free agent) also was injured this year. James Hudson and Blake Hance did an okay job at filling in, but man it was a huge liability at tackle at times.

I’m hopeful that Conklin can return, and I think he will at least get a shot. Hubbard was a great sixth man, but with injuries the last two years, his time in the league may be over.

That is why a guy like Morgan Moses makes sense. A guy that will likely not be retained by the Jets, and has ties to the line coach, Bill Callahan, from his time in Washington.

With the injury to Conklin, there is a good chance he would be the opening day right tackle in this offense.  If Conklin did recover, he would then become your sixth man. The big question is Moses ready to step back and possibly not have the chance to start.

With so many questions around Conklin, expect Berry to bring in a very capable backup that is a starting-caliber tackle in the league. It may be an expensive strategy, but important for the offense.
