AFC North free agent to sign No. 1 – Calais Campbell, Defensive Tackle

The guy that could undoubtedly help this team the most is Calais Campbell of the Baltimore Ravens. Campbell is a 6-foot-8, 300-pound defensive tackle who is extremely athletic and can play against the run and collapse a pocket in passing situations.

The guy has been a pro-bowler six times in the last eight seasons and has an All-Pro selection to his name as well. He is a guy who could take the Browns issues at defensive tackle and instantly make it a position of strength.

The cons of Campbell. He will turn 36 this season and will likely be expensive. The Cleveland Browns would likely have $50 million alone tied up between Myles Garrett, Clowney, and Campbell if they pulled the trigger.

What’s the one thing we know about this league? It all starts upfront. Let’s hope that Campbell will be motivated to go to a team with a chance of winning and can stay healthy for another full year.

The Browns do have Jordan Elliott and Tommy Togiai who have shown promise at times. One season with Campbell to mentor and give them another year to develop could also be a huge benefit. The Browns wouldn’t need him on the field for 75 or 80 percent of the snaps which could be a positive for him as well.
