3 questions the Cleveland Browns must ask after Bengals historic run
By Greg Newland
Cleveland Browns question No. 1 – Is the quarterback good enough?
The last question everyone knows is coming, is the quarterback play good enough? This isn’t a debate on if the Cleveland Browns should sign Baker Mayfield, it’s more of a question on if the Browns are good enough to have a chance at beating the Bengals at least once a year as it stands now.
Truthfully, I don’t know if the answer to that question is yes. I guess you always have the wildcard spot to make the playoffs, but I would think there would be some serious motivation by the front office to get a quarterback who can regularly beat Joe Burrow.
Browns fans have already seen this with Ben Roethlisberger. The guy owned them for nearly two decades and it always seemed like even their second-stringers found a way to beat the Browns.
Mayfield deserves another shot at leading this team while he is healthy. I’m by no means saying it’s time to move on. But even if Baker is close to his 2020 self, is that enough? And if it’s not, should the Browns just settle for competing for a wildcard?
Patrick Mahomes, Joe Burrow, and Josh Allen aren’t going anywhere. If you want to compete for a Super Bowl, you had better step up your game in the next few years.
