Cleveland Browns No. 4 WR prospect to watch: Christian Watson, North Dakota State

The wide receiver from the small school up north, and the same school that current Indianapolis Colts quarterback Carson Wentz went to you in college is getting a lot of looks by scouts. Christian Watson is tall 6’5 and has good speed and great hands to bring down passes in traffic.

He’s having a good start to his Senior Bowl practices as reported recently by Eric Peterson of Inforum — as he shared some highlights from his practice at the Senior Bowl.

He could be used in the slot, or he can be moved around. That versatility could be very appealing to many NFL teams. He’s projected to be drafted in the middle rounds but with a good showing this week and with the NFL combine coming up next month, he could be headed up draft boards by late April.

Cleveland has struggled to find a receiver with speed and height and Watson could do both. His route running is solid. With that height, he’s able to box out opponents and meet the passes at their highest point to win out on contested throws.

Cleveland Browns No. 3 WR prospect to watch: Jalen Tolbert, South Alabama

The South Alabama product might not have gone to The University of Alabama, but his skill set and physical attributes are quickly making him a player of interest for many NFL teams looking to draft a solid NFL player. Jalen Tolbert stands in at 6-3 and that has helped make him an attractive prospect. He blew away his competition this season as he caught 82 passes for 1,474 yards and eight touchdowns. He’s got great breakaway speed, which is definitely something the Browns need help with.

He’s considered a middle-round draft pick, but his potential could get him pushed up to as late first or early second-round pick up. With that height, good hands, speed, and potential, that might be a perfect selection by Cleveland maybe with that round two pick at No. 44.

The Senior Bowl is also being played in Tolbert’s backyard, as the game is played at the South Alabama Jaguars’ home stadium. That might give the tall and athletic receiver a bit more of a boost in the game.
