Cleveland Browns: 4 tight ends to watch in the Senior Bowl
Cleveland Browns Senior Bowl Tight End No. 2: Cole Turner – Nevada
Cole Turner had a pretty, pretty good season for the Nevada Wolf Pack in 2021. He was able to set new career-highs in games played with 11, receptions with 62, while recording 677 yards, and 10 touchdowns. He had similar numbers as a junior with 49 receptions, 605 yards, and nine touchdowns.
Brent Sobleski of Bleacher Report has Turner as the most overlooked player at his position in this year’s NFL Draft. He uses the typical cliché of being a wide receiver in a tight end’s body, but he is absolutely right.
He measured in at 6-foot-six-inches tall and 246 pounds. He has a wingspan of 79 ¼-inches, an arm length of 33-inches, and nine-7/8-inch hands. He is a big, explosive body who could be in a similar spot as David Njoku currently. Imagine being able to roll out two guys in similar stature. That would be a nightmare for opposing defenses, should they be put in a position to win.
Where Turner could play a big factor for teams, especially the Browns is in the red zone. He is the ideal candidate to throw a fade route to and is big enough to essentially box-out defenders. In fact, he encourages his quarterback to throw him the ball when it is a one-on-one situation. This is a player that Berry should be fully tapped into this weekend.
