Baker Mayfield Landing Spot No. 3 – Las Vegas Raiders

Honestly, a trade with the Las Vegas Raiders would be my most preferred route. I would love for the Browns to end up with Derek Carr and Baker Mayfield moving on to Vegas. I don’t think there is a huge upgrade here, but no one can argue that Carr has much better statistics.

The real question is, is Vegas interested? After a ton of turmoil throughout the organization, the Raiders managed to still make the playoffs, yet fired their interim head coach and general manager. A move only the Raiders (or maybe the Browns in the past) would make.

A new GM and head coach may not want a guy like Carr. They may be willing to give Mayfield a “one and done” type opportunity to prove himself. If he plays well, he gets his long-term deal.  If he plays as he did in 2021, the Raiders are back to the drawing board looking for a starting quarterback.

Remember, Carr is only under contract for one more season, and the real hesitation from the Raiders may be paying him top dollar as a free agent. This trade could end up working out for both teams as both guys may just need fresh starts.

Or both guys could fizzle and still become free agents at the end of next season.
