Baker Mayfield replacement No. 5: Carson Strong, Nevada

If the Browns truly are going to give up on Baker Mayfield, they need to draft a guy who can make all the throws. He needs to be accurate to all levels of the field at a tolerable level upon entering the league.

The first draftable quarterback for the Browns is Carson Strong. Strong is just that, strong. He has a strong arm that can make all the throws.

He is accurate short, medium and long. He takes care of the football and has a quick release. He has good football. But most importantly, he is a good student of the game.

However, his long passes lack touch. He becomes inaccurate when pressured. He is not very athletic. He is the prototypical statue quarterback. Mayfield looks extremely athletic compared to this guy. Further, he struggles to read defenses resulting in hanging on to the ball too long.

Nonetheless, he has all the necessary skills to succeed in the NFL. He will need groomed over a season to understand NFL defenses. He would make a decent backup to Baker Mayfield for the Browns but his lack of athleticism will ultimately hurt his case.

Strong may be out of sight out of mind playing in Nevada. But our next guy had plenty of exposure playing in the SEC.
