Cleveland Browns SB Free Agent No. 4: Quinton Spain, Cincinnati Bengals, OG

A regular starter for the Bengals, Quinton Spain has been a savvy veteran presence to the team that now finds itself in the Super Bowl. Spain has been in the league since 2015 and originally played for the Tennesse Titans.

He moved over to the Buffalo Bills in 2019 where he was a steady force on the offensive line. He was benched suddenly during the 2020 year with the Bills after having signed a big $15 million contract with them.  He went on to play for the Bengals the rest of the 2020 season after his release from Buffalo. This past year he signed a one-year $1.1 deal with the Bengals.

With the continuing injuries over the past two seasons for the Browns on the offensive line, trying to get a player like Spain who is a constant for teams he’s played on would be a big boost.

Cleveland Browns SB Free Agent No. 5: C.J. Uzomah, Cincinnati Bengals, TE

The Browns still need help with their offense, especially in the passing game. The Browns have had three tight ends play regularly with the team over the last couple of seasons including Austin Hooper and Harrison Bryant. David Njoku is the other tight end but he’s a free agent and will be looking for a big contract, likely elsewhere.

C.J. Uzomah is in a similar position and had a $6 million contract this past year. He did have his best career season this year with the Bengals where he caught 49 passes for 493 yards.  He also scored five touchdowns. He’s been in the league since 2015. With the unknowns on what Njoku will do in free agency, Uzomah could be a nice replacement at a slightly cheaper price than Njoku will demand.

There are many other free agents from both benches Sunday that could land in Cleveland by next season. The Bengals have Eli Apple, Josh Tupou, and Vernon Hargreaves to just mention a few more free agent players to watch. The Rams also have Von Miller, Beckham Jr., Sony Michel, and their kicker Matt Gay available in free agency.

Will the Browns be the new home next season to any of these players? We shall wait and see. Enjoy the Super Bowl on Sunday!
