Cleveland Browns Make or Break Player No. 2 – Myles Garrett

Nobody will make the argument that Myles Garrett isn’t a top-10 defender in the NFL. He has 58.5 sacks the last five years and broke the Cleveland Browns single-season record in 2021 with 16 sacks.

However, he ended the season on a low note with only one sack in the last four weeks of the season. Yes, I know he tweaked a muscle in his thigh/quad, but production really dropped. If he was that injured, he should not have been out there.

Garrett has plenty of years ahead of him in the league, but there is no doubt that he is at the peak of his prime right now. He needs to have an absolutely monster season in 2022 to make this defense elite and make up for any lack of offense that may exist.

I’m fine with 16 sacks again, 18 to 20 would be better, but I want to see him in the face of the quarterback every single play. Jadeveon Clowney finished the season with nine sacks, but I would argue he was equally if not more effective because of his constant pressures.

I’m not saying Garrett has been bad, so please don’t take it that way. But instead of padding stats with five sacks against the crappy Bears, I want to see some meaningful plays as he had in 2020 with all of the strip-sacks.
