Landry Potential Landing Spot No. 3 – Detroit Lions

After winning just three games last year, I don’t think there is any doubt that the Detroit Lions will be interested in adding as much talent as possible. They think they have an answer in Jared Goff at quarterback, but there isn’t a ton of anything else to be excited about in Detroit.

Amon-Ra St. Brown led the team in receiving last year with over 900 yards and five touchdowns. After that, it was a tight end, T.J. Hockenson, and a few guys I’ve never even heard of. The bottom line, they will be interested in adding a receiver.

What the Lions will face is what the Browns faced for so long. It’s very hard to get talented free agents when there is little to no history of being able to compete at a high level.

If Landry wants another contract that pays anywhere close to $10 million a year, a team like the Lions who can’t get anyone else may be the best option he has. Cleveland has seen guys like Kenny Britt and Dwayne Bowe do this in the past.

They know they can’t get paid with a contender, but they want one bigger pay-day before leaving the league. Browns fans also know how both of those guys worked out for the team.

I wouldn’t blame Landry for not worrying about winning and getting his money, but I’m not sold that money is a huge motivation to him either at this point in his career.
