4 Free agent edge rushers Cleveland Browns need to target in 2022

Cleveland Browns edge rusher target No.1: Randy Gregory, Dallas Cowboys
Randy Gregory had played with the Dallas Cowboys over the past seven years, though two of those years he was out because of substance abuse issues. That in itself is a good reason to be cautious if you are the Browns, however, he did have a good year as a Cowboy this past season.
Because of his big year, he is now looking for a new deal and Spotrac.com suggests he’d be worth north of $13 million. He recorded six sacks, forced three fumbles, and had 29 pressures on the quarterback this past season.
If Gregory can stay clear of off-the-field issues, he’s got tremendous upside. He will be turning 30 years old next season. He hasn’t played consistently over the past seven years for the Cowboys. That could be a red flag, but it could also suggest after his breakout season, that he’s just getting started. Pairing him with Garrett could pay huge dividends for the Browns.
Cleveland Browns edge rusher target No. 2: Emmanuel Ogbah, Miami Dolphins
Emmanuel Ogbah would be a familiar name to Browns fans as he started his career in Cleveland. He’s enjoyed a good career since leaving the Browns in 2019 when he was first traded to the Kansas City Chiefs and then signed a new deal with the Miami Dolphins in 2020. He earned $8 million a year in Miami and is projected according to spotrac.com to be worth $10 million for his next contract.
He’s recorded nine sacks each of his two seasons with the Dolphins. He also recorded 83 tackles in those two years. He pressured the quarterback 39 times as well this past year.
The Dolphins are believed to be wanting to keep Ogbah in Miami next season, but he is a free agent, and he may want to test the waters again. The Browns would be smart to look into Ogbah’s options and try to bring him back to the Browns. He’s still young at 28 years old. He will have several teams interested in his services next season. He won’t break the bank for some team, and he would excel in Cleveland.
