Cleveland Browns Under the Radar WR No. 2 – John Metchie III

Alabama has been spitting out star wide receivers the last five years, and John Metchie may very well be the next one. After eclipsing 1,000 yards receiving in 2021 on a roster that was loaded with talent, the Cleveland Browns could have interest in a guy like him on day two of the 2022 NFL draft.

Metchie has average size at 6-foot, 195 pounds, but he has elite speed with a forty-yard dash expectation of around 4.35.

Metchie has a ton of upper body strength and has as much elusiveness as he does speed. He is a guy that can stop on the dime, make a cut, and get back to full speed all in the snap of a finger. Not only does he have strong hands, but he also has a motor that doesn’t quit and is always working to improve his craft.

The biggest downside to Metchie at the moment is his deep ball tracking. He did most of his work underneath at Alabama and will need to continue his ball tracking skills at the next level.

Don’t get me wrong, Metchie isn’t falling past round two, but with a loaded class, I don’t see him going in round one. Should the Browns have an opportunity at a guy at pick No. 13 who slides, Metchie could be an equally strong option in round two to help the 2022 wide receivers in Cleveland.
