NFL Scouting Combine: 3 prospects Cleveland Browns need to watch day 4

Cleveland Browns scouting combine prospect to watch No. 2: Mario Goodrich, CB, Clemson
With M.J. Stewart potentially hitting the open market — and with the injury concerns the Browns have had with players such as Denzel Ward and Greedy Williams — Cleveland could be looking to add another cornerback. They likely won’t be looking at anyone in Round 1 or Round 2 but instead, they should be targeting a late day two or early day three player who they can groom.
One potential fit is Mario Goodrich from Clemson. Goodrich wasn’t a starter for much of his career but when he hit the field for his senior campaign, he was given the chance to shine — and that’s what he did.
A team captain who improved every season, Goodrich had 42 tackles, two picks, and 10 pass defenses for the Tigers. He also has impressive length which makes it hard for opposing quarterbacks to beat him without making great throws. On top of that, he’s a willing tackler in run support which is something Joe Woods loves to see in his defensive backs.
He does have some areas where he needs to improve, including being lighter on his feet and finding more balance and confidence when the ball is in the air. Overall, he’s a solid prospect with a high ceiling who could help fill a need for the Browns.
