Cleveland Browns FA target No. 2: Emmanuel Ogbah, EDGE

A familiar face comes up here as Emmanuel Ogbah, originally a second-round pick of the Cleveland Browns back in 2016, is set for free agency. Ogbah spent three seasons with the Browns and had 122 tackles with 12.5 sacks in that span.

He was then traded away when John Dorsey picked up Olivier Vernon, in a move that landed them Eric Murray. Ogbah went on to win a Super Bowl ring with the Chiefs but was not brought back in 2020. Instead, he signed with the Miami Dolphins and put together the two best seasons of his career.

Ogbah had 42 tackles and nine sacks in 2020 and followed that up with 41 tackles and nine sacks in 2021. It was his best and most consistent stretch by far and he even batted down 12 passes this past year alone. During his days with the Browns, he excelled in this but never had that kind of success.

Heading into free agency, there’s a belief Cleveland is about to lose Jadeveon Clowney as he’s seeking another big payday. That could lead to them searching for a new starter and while Ogbah doesn’t have the superstar name recognition, he also hasn’t missed a game in the past two seasons and also put up numbers similar to Clowney.

Bringing him back to start across from Myles Garrett could be exactly what this defensive line needs in order to stay competitive.
